NFDP U14 beat FC Bari 6-0 in friendly match

The U14 National Football Development Programme (NFDP) team beat FC Bari's youth team 6-0 in a friendly today, according to the NFDP social media.

The friendly match, held as a part of NFDP's tour of Europe, came about due to the the assistance of Bari's soon-to-be owner, Malaysian Datuk Dr Noordin Ahmad.

Goals in the match, played at the Italian side's home Stadio San Nicola, was scored by Luqman Hakim, Amirul Ashrafiq, Aiman Haikal, Danial Amali and Alif Daniel. Luqman netted the only goal of the first half, but in the second he added his brace before his teammates added four more. The home side had a chance to pull one back through a penalty in the second half when their striker was brought down in the box, but the spot kick did not go in.

In typical fashion, NFDP technical director Lim Teong Kim still found weaknesses that need fixing in his boys' performance.

He was quoted by their social website as ruing his boys' lack of finishing.

"I am not pleased with our attackers, they wasted so many opportunities and opted for the more difficult way.

"We need to be more confident, as the players looked as if they lacked belief in themselves. This needs to be changed," said the former Bayern Munich youth coach.

After this the side will take on the youth sides of Switzerland's FC Lugano on June 5, and Juventus FC on June 7. They will then play in the U14 Elite Cup in France, on June 11 and 12.
